At its November 21, 2016, meeting, Town Council approved:
The adoption of three (3) policies by way of by-law; Street Cleaning, Sidewalk Installation and Municipal Street Naming.
The authorization of requested expenditures in the estimated amount of $200,000.00 from the water/wastewater reserves, to engage engineering firms to prepare a tender ready for drawings to fulfill the requirements of the Clean Water and Waste Water find (CWWf).
The authorization of the Lord Mayor to send a letter of approval permitting the Royal Canadian Air Force Snow Birds to fly as low as 500ft for the Canadian Polish Congress’ 100th Anniversary Pilgrimage in NOTL on June 11, 2017.
2017 user fees and charges for Town departments, which will be incorporated in the 2017 Operating budget.
Revised water and wastewater rates effective January 1, 2017.
That the staff report regarding the Provincial Heritage Property Tax Relief, be deferred to a future Committee of the Whole meeting.
Councillor Motions
Councillor Flynn - That the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake pay its portion of the $158,500 required to replace the Hydro infrastructure that has been deemed unsafe by the ESA, to be funded out of the Capital Reserve.
Councillor Collard – That staff investigate the benefits and costs of adding a leaf removal service from the side of the road for our residents and report back in time for possible inclusion in the 2018 budget.
Councillor Collard – That staff investigate the costs and benefits of increasing securities from developers to ensure that work is completed in front of developments.
Councillor Collard – That staff examine the Council – Chamber relationship to determine whether it is in the Town’s best interest to continue the existing partnership or to take on the role of Economic Development on its own and to report back to Council by April 1, 2017.
Councillor Collard - That the Town respond to the EBR regarding the taking of water via the Nestle issues and that any future changes not impact the agriculture community.
Councillor Miele - That Austin Kirkby be appointed to the Agricultural and Irrigation Committees for six months, replacing Council Members, and that Mrs. Kirkby's knowledge be utilized when meeting with different agencies.
