A representative from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) provided Council with an update on the 2016 Property Assessment for 2017-2020. See for more information.

Niagara Historical Society & Museum’s Managing Director presented Council with an update on the Museum and its activities over the past year as well as upcoming events.

Regional Councillor Gary Burroughs was present regarding the water feature in Simcoe Park. Since he is a long time resident, he was asking if Town staff could work with Regional staff to see if the water feature could be reopened in 2016 in its former state.

Public Meetings were held at the Community Centre on July 18, 2016, for the following properties.  Staff Reports will be presented to Council at a future meeting.

  • 1585 Concession 6 Road - Zoning By-law Amendment
  • 526 Regent Street - Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments

Note: 1397 York Road and 242 & 246 Four Mile Creek Road - Official Plan and Zoning Amendments (St. Davids Commercial) was deferred at the request of the applicant, and therefore the public meeting was cancelled.

At its July 25, 2016, meeting, Town Council approved:

A tender of $129,600 from Work Equipment Ltd. for the purchase of a new 2016 Articulating Diesel Tractor (Trackless) with plow attachment.

Encroachment Agreements for 21 Front Street South and 552 Lakeshore Road. 

Parking and Traffic By-law Amendments for Niagara Blvd, Shakespeare Ave, and Colonel Cohoe Dr. 

An extension of the existing lease with Parks Canada for their office space rental at the Court House. 

The proposed budget reporting timeline for the Town’s 2017 Capital and Operating Budgets. 

A Special Events Permit for The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce’s "Savour Niagara" event on September 22, 2016, at the Niagara District Airport. 

A Special Events Permit for the organizers of "The Commons Market" on October 2, 2016, at Butler's Barracks on Parks Canada lands. 

A Corporate Scent Awareness Policy for Town-owned facilities. 

The sale of a portion of the Regent Street unopened road allowance to Lais Hotel Properties Limited. 

The purchase of a new demonstrator pumper truck for $398,700 from Dependable Emergency Vehicles in Brampton as well as the purchase of hose, nozzles and other assorted Capital firefighting equipment to outfit the vehicle to NFPA compliance with the cost not to exceed $448,700.

A revised Terms of Reference for the UNESCO Committee to permit the appointment of sub-committees.
